PROCESS OPERATOR TRAINEE – Beaumont new ammonia
As an Operator Trainee, reporting to the Shift Supervisor, you will be trained to safely control equipment systems that process chemical substances into specified products, monitor the production process and ensure efficiency of systems and equipment. You will also become familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the scope of areas assigned. This role will perform a variety of tasks to accomplish production targets and expectations. The Process Operator Trainee works under general supervision, while ensuring safety and operational procedures and policies are strictly followed.
Essential Job Functions
· Safely operate pumps, compressors, fired heaters, boilers, reactors, distillation columns and other plant equipment within safe operating ranges.
· Ensure all Environmental and Safety Compliance Procedures are strictly adhered to.
· Make changes to the operating process as necessary to maintain product quality. Adjust control instruments, valves, or switches to regulate pressure, temperature or flow rate of product; direct flow of product to other units or to maintain specified levels in tanks and towers; operate control room instrumentation systems and coordinate activities with outside operators.
· Monitor the performance of plant equipment and process conditions; read flow meters, temperature and pressure gauges; take routine readings on process variables.
· Promptly respond to process alarms / constraints.
· Perform general maintenance, repair, and cleanup of plant equipment for safe and efficient operation.
· Draw samples of products from the process for laboratory testing. Perform lab testing on some products.
· Actively Engaged in understanding and following plant policies and procedures.
· Troubleshoot problems to determine resolution within safe operating limits.
· Keep management appropriately informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
· Present a professional image at all times to clients and vendors and maintain a positive reputation of the company.
· Follow all relevant company policies and procedures.
· Active Participant in the Site Emergency Response Team, with responsibilities on in Fire Bridgae, Hazmat, Medical and Rescue Teams
· Perform other tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations
· None
Education, Experience, and/or Training
· High school diploma or equivalent required
· Two-year associate degree in Process Operations or a related industrial/ technical field
o OR 1-2 years of process operations experience in a chemical or refining plant, or related industry.
o OR five years of related industrial experience in construction/maintenance
o OR military experience with direct transferable technical skills (mechanical, operational, etc.)

· Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
Physical
· Ability to lift 50 lbs. regularly required.
· Ability to climb ladders and walk up the stairs regularly required.
· Ability to get to “field” in a timely manner.
· Ability to sit or stand for prolonged amounts of time required.
· Ability to work in elevated areas and confined spaces.
Environmental
· Work is performed within an industrial environment, with heavy machinery.
· Work is performed in the “field”, requiring personal protective equipment (PPE).
· Noise levels are typically loud.
Travel

Work Schedule & Benefits
· Shift & Schedule: Initially straight days with double shifts (7/12s); transitioning to a DuPont rotating shift schedule.
· Must be willing to work 12-hour rotating shifts (DuPont schedule) including nights, weekends, and holidays.
· Must be able to respond to after-hour callouts and emergencies on a rotational basis.
· Participation in the site’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) is required.
